Expressions of Interest by 31st August 2011

This is a two-stage competition. The first stage invites a wide Expression of Interest from which a shortlist of five to seven teams will be selected.

We encourage EOIs from multi-disciplinary teams which should include but are not limited to: architects, landscape architects (with experience of design for play), engineers and quantity surveyors.

A creative and artistic exploration of the project is strongly encouraged and teams should outline their approach to working with an artist.

The project’s key themes encompass:

  • setting the standard for exceptional and innovative design in the Park
  • conveying a sense of ownership to local communities
  • creating a focal point for local gatherings and celebrations
  • play as a draw for families from new neighbourhoods and Greater London
  • landscape and ecology opened-up for leisure and education
  • promoting a healthy and active lifestyle as part of the Olympic Legacy

If selected the teams’ proposals should include:

  • a destination playground (for all ages) with a strong theme
  • a building which includes:
    • flexible and interconnecting event/community spaces
    • a café with an outdoor seating terrace
    • park facilities including toilets
